Second Degree AV Block
Second-degree AV (atrioventricular) block is a type of heart block where electrical signals from the atria to the ventricles are delayed or intermittently blocked. The condition is characterized by two types: Type I (Mobitz I) and Type II (Mobitz II). Each type has different implications and patterns of conduction failure.
Mobitz I
In this type, the electrical signals from the atria are progressively delayed until one signal is completely blocked and doesn't reach the ventricles.
Mobitz II
In Mobitz II, the AV node or bundle of His fails to conduct some atrial impulses to the ventricles without any progressive delay, leading to sudden and intermittent dropped beats.
